PROF. OLUWATUYI OMOTOSO

Dean of Students Affairs

Omotoso Oluwatuyi, a Professor of Regional Development was born in Ikole Ekiti, a town in Ikole Local Government Area of Ekiti State, Nigeria. He attended A.U.D High School, Ikole Ekiti between 1980 and 1986. He did his Bachelor of Science Degree in Geography from the Department of Geography, Ondo State University now, Ekiti State University, Ado-Ekiti between 1989 and 1994. He obtained his M.Sc Degree in Geography and Planning Science from the University of Ado-Ekiti, Nigeria now Ekiti State University, Ado-Ekiti, Nigeria in 2001. He equally had his Ph.D from the Department of Geography and Planning Science, University of Ado-Ekiti, Nigeria now, Ekiti State University, Ado-Ekiti, Nigeria in 2008. Professionally, he is a member of the Social Science Academy of Nigeria (SSAN), International Water Association, Association of Nigeria Geographers (ANG), International Research and Development Network, National Environmental Science Academy. He is also a Fellow of Certified Institute of Hospitality and Tourism Management and fellow of Certified Institute of Hospitality, Tourism and Management of America.

Prof. Omotoso joined the services of the University as a Graduate Assistant in 1998 in the then Ondo State University, Ado-Ekiti now Ekiti State University, Ado-Ekiti and rose to the position of a Professor in 2016. He has served in many capacities in the University out of which are: Field Work Coordinator, Department of Geography and Planning Science, University of Ado-Ekiti (1998-2002); Staff Adviser, Faculty of the Social Sciences Students’ Association, Ekiti State University, Ado-Ekiti (2003 to date); Welfare Office, Department of Geography and Planning Science; Ekiti State University, Ado-Ekiti (1999 to 2015). Prof. Omotoso is a renowned researcher with many publications that have appeared in high impact foreign journals around the world; his latest was the Assessment of Government and Heritage Custodian Roles in the Development of Cultural Tourism in Ekiti State, Nigeria. He has also supervised many M.Sc. and Ph.D theses in which many of the students are members of the academia. He has good relationship with other members of staff and students in and outside the department. He is married and blessed with good children.
